Flood

Written sometime around May 14th, 2000 by Justin Brock. Category: Songs

When you come like a flood
And my world is water
From my eyes to my bed
And between
I rise higher than mountains
I sink lower than hell
On this dark angry swell
Do you see?

Will you gather me
From the shards on the shoreline
When the waters calm
And the rage is spent.
When I dangle there
On the lip of the ocean
Will your kiss make me live again?

When I pass through the fire
See you anything precious
That might fall from the flames
From the flames
My relentless refiner
Sift the gold from these ashes
And roll my myriad fears
Into one

Cry to the north and south
And the east and the west
From this desperate bush
That you burn in the desert
Strike the nations
With this heart of iron
You have beaten in the flames.
